The third beer in the Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Series is a Black Barleywine that is 10.2% abv and was brewed with Jack McAuliffe from one of the first modern day American micro breweries, New Albion which is no longer brewing beer. The Black Barleywine is such an innovative beer with deep caramel and roasted malt notes, truly a pleasure to drink. The fourth and final beer in the series was a blended beer from the Sierra Nevada brew team. This beer is the Brewers Reserve Grand Cru which is a blend of: Barrel-aged Big Foot, Celebration, and Pale Ale blended together then dry hopped for an added level of hop complexity. The oak barrels took this beer to another level and really pulled all of the flavors together to make a big beer.
After tasting all of the beers in the series it is hard to find a favorite they were all so good and so unique. Thanks to companies like Sierra Nevada we will be seeing some great beer in the years to come.
